These are the 2 loads I worked up last year, and after extensive patterning, I wouldn't hesitate to drop the hammer on a bird at 50 yds with either load. I killed with the Hevishot load at 40 yds last year, and it put the bird down with authority.
Load 1
100 gr Shocky's Gold FF
LBC 50 Wad (slit with 4 petals to the next to last ring)
1 7/8 oz Hevi 7s
Foam OSC (cut from a foam meat tray)
Load 2
100 gr Shocky's Gold FF
LBC 50 Wad (slit with 4 petals to the next to last ring)
1/8" 20 ga cork
1/8" 20 ga felt
2 oz HW 7s
Foam OSC (cut from a foam meat tray)
Couple of loads I worked up last year

Thanks for the feed back, I have "cooked" up a few of your #1s for a test "when it stops raining around here" Will post results.

No problem at all, glad to help! Keep me posted for sure, on how those loads pattern for you.
I went back and dug up one of my pattern pics from my Hevi load (load #1) from last year. This was with several loads down the barrel, from dialing in the sights, so the barrel was pretty fouled, and patterns weren't optimum. This load will pattern a good bit tighter with a clean barrel with only 1 fouling shot.
