Win209s are the longest primer. The Fed209A is my 2nd favorite but it creates more fouling in the breach. Rem STSs and CCI were the worst, mag or regular. You can use a SS shim in the primer pocket though and make any primer work. Its a little bit of a hassle though to get the fit just right.

My mountaineer has a less extreme version of this problem. I only use federal 209a. Haven't had a chance to try winnys yet. Takes a few hand heel raps on the stock or a pocket knife to get them out.

Recock the bolt and DRY fire the spent primer. It will usually just fall right out afterwards.

I just sent my bolt & plug back today to swap for the new design. Then I'm back to the range with W209's to see what she will do.

Gordy sent me a new bolt & breech plug. I installed it Wed night & went to the range the next day. Fired 3 shots. 110gr BH209, PT Gold 240's, brand new box of W209 primers. After the 3rd shot the primer was stuck in the breech plug & I couldn't get the bolt back. Sent a message to the big wig on the Facebook site & called & left a message with Mona for Gordy. So far.....no response. What I have right now is Knight's flagship boat anchor :(

They are letting me keep the other plug so I'll try polishing it a bit.

I polished all the primer pockets on my conversion. Not because they did bot function but because they cleaned up easier. Carbon does not stick as well to a polished surface.
