It is not just the vent liner... the new NFPJ breech plug is built to shoot BH, or any other, in that the flash channel is larger and allows the plug to breath better and in that it transfers the heat more efficiently to the powder. There is no need for a mag primer, the plug will accept any American Primer but it was designed around the W209.

words of wisdom;
i switched to bh209 two years ago, after all the hoopla over its supposedly greater benefits over other blackpowder subs.
after using it for quite a while, i went back to 777 loose. bh209 is much dirtier than any H powder, and is messy, and does not meter well.
went back to 777 FFG and will not go back.
I can load and shoot 5 shots out of my old t-bolt without having to clean the barrel;
after all, when actually hunting, how many shots do you think u will get off?
I have never had to reload for a second shot on a running deer, and if i did, it wouldn't be with a smoke pole.
one and done or forget it

U guys need to quit using bh209 and quit trying to convert ur guns to shoot it. its not what it all hyped up to be. after two years, i went back to 777 FFG and wont ever go back. all my mis-fires, all my hang-fires all went away when I wnt back to 777.
no more reliabilty problems period.
shoot 50/40 shockwaves with 100 gr. 777 (mzl vel. 2050), and forget about all that crap ur havin.

You are out of your mind. Blackhorn209 meters beautifully even in a RCBS Chargemaster 1500 combo. It is the most uniform in grain size of ANY BP sub. Uniform size equals uniform volume. Uniform volume equals more uniform weight. My weighed charges have FPS spreads no greater than the teens. Dirtier..really....let me see you load over 40 shots at the range and not swab with Triple7. BH209 contains far less organic compounds and leaves far less fouling. It creates less smoke. Simple science will tell you that is cleaner. BP and most subs are highly inefficient when changing from a solid to a gas. The useless byproducts of sublimation are fouling and smoke. Simple logic dictates the powder with fewer organic compounds and byproducts IS cleaner "burning".

Maybe its YOU that has the issue and not the powder. Everyone of my MLs shoots BH209 just fine with a normal Win209 primer. ;)

I have a Disc Elite and have tried BH209, but got a lot of hang ups. Called Knight and the lady said I needed the vented breech plug, which I bought. Switched to Rio 209 primers after talking with Western Powders. Still not reliable. Sometimes will get 4 good shots, sometimes only 1 before a hang up/blowback event. Not reliable enough for hunting. Surprised now that I read this forum that they didn't suggest the bare primer plug. Pretty disappointed with Knight. Went back to 777 and original plug.

Did someone just say that Blackhorn 209 was inferior to black powder and 777? You're inhaling too much ML smoke. I've been shooting BH209 since 2009 and I will not shoot anything else as long as this is available.

I have shot over 50 loads in my guns without having to clean. The barrels no longer rust. The breach plug comes out with minimal effort. No water for cleanup.

Pyrodex and 777 (both pellets and granuals) are crap and vastly inferior to Blackhorn 209.

Have not had a hang fire with the Lehigh conversion Blackhorn 209 and Federal 209A. killed a 14 point Buck today with the Federal B.O.R. Lock Copper bullet, put him down.
