Disc Exreme & BH209

I have recently bought a Disc Extreme in 50cal. The rifle will not shoot Bh209 reliably. I get alot of misfires and hangfires, the tech dept suggests that the flash hole is too small.Has anyone else had such problems?

If you are going to us Bh209 you need this plug. http://www.knightrifles.com/bare-209-pr ... rsion-kit/ this will stop your misfires. and what primer are you using.

I have been using CCI209M primers. What is the difference in the bare primer setup? Does the breech plug have a larger flash hole? I was considering modifying the original plug. This is very frustrating. I was not ready to encounter such problems from a Knight rifle.

The bare primer has a better seal on the primer for blow back witch gives you better flame to the powder charge. the new plug has a larger flame channel and the flash hole is the same. I use the bare primer plug in all my knights and have no misfires at all with BH209. you need to look at this to.http://www.blackhorn209.com/specs/breech-plug-cleaning/

I might try a bare primer setup. Have you tried the plugs with the vent liner? There is no info as to the benefits of that type plug. I've been trying to contact Knight but they seem reluctant to give any meaningful help. I would think they would care more about their customers.

I converted all of my Knights to the Lehigh designed bare 209 primer system. They work fantastic with a regular Win209 primer. I prefer the REAL Lehigh conversion with a removable vent liner but those are no longer sold. Savage/Henry Ball has a patent on that design. The one Knight now sells is almost the same but the vent liner is "brazed" in the breach plug.

What does the vent liner do? Does it give better ignition of the powder, like BH209?

Does the bare primer conversion come with the vented plug or is that bought separate?

The ventliner just last longer in the plug and you have a shorter flame channel with this plug that helps you use BH209. and less to no blow back witch helps get the flame to the powder.
