In the Rock Pit - Crushing Basalt
Yesterday was a great morning to get out - so I headed to the Rock Pit with my Western Edition Mountaineer. I wanted to complete my project of getting the rifle sighted in with the new bullet that I had gotten from Bull Shop Dan. In Idaho we are required to use open sights and full bore lead conical...

Knight 1-30 Shooter
Today in this fast moving world the old Knight 1-30 twist 45 cal. rifle is sort looked down on by a bunch of us as not the RIGHT STUFF for a quality modern 45 cal. inline. The negative portion being the 1-30 twist as the a more popular twist would be faster. But for myself in my little world the old...

Back in the Rock Pit
Got a chance to get out again today and I wanted to shoot a second 45 that I recently acquired. I originally headed to the farm to shoot but the snow had melted back a great deal and the shooting field was really muddy. So I turned around and headed to the Rock Pit once again. No great news here but...

Shooting Elk Hearts in the Rock Pit
Saturday - normally a day off for me from coaching softball - I finished some chores early this morning and then collected things to go shoot. I thought the Farm would be to muddy so decided to head to the Rock Pit. I was happy with the snow in the rock pit even though the temperature was really cri...

45 DISC Extreme @ the Farm
Got a chance to run to the farm this morning for a quick shooting trip. I got the 45 Knight DISC Extreme ready yesterday installing it in a wood stock, removing the open sights, and mounting a Leupold 3x9x40 Ultimate Slam scope. I bore sighted the scope here at the house. I chose the Leupold scope f...

Scoped and Ready to Shoot
I am really liking this new rifle. So I just put a scope on it changed the FPJ out to a Lehigh NFPJ, set for W209's. Also put in a Lehigh/Knight new bolt housing. I am ready to go shoot it - well sight it in anyway... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/sabotloader/Knight%2045%20DISC%20-%20Blue/6...

New to Me 45 cal DISC
And the worst part now - I really like it! This all occurred because I was looking for a empty Thumbhole stock that I could send down and get a new camo pattern applied to... CoHiCntry, listed a thumbhole in the classified but at that time the price was to high for me to move on. But then CoHiCntry ...

Chpt. #4 Sabotless - Failure
I really do really hate posting failures but since I started this I guess I need to... Monday, I knurled up another set of Lehigh .500x350 grain bullets. I had decided I wanted to shoot them from my Knight Mountaineer with a Western Kit installed. I use #11 Mag or RWS 1075+ caps a NECG adjustable pe...

Chpt. #3 Sabotless Shooting
Thursday morning it looked like I was going to get some time to get to shoot, so I grabbed some of the .500x350 gr. Lehigh's and ran them between to files to knurl them. I am still trying to really perfect this process although I continue to think it does not have to be as precise as I thought it mi...
