The crush rib style sabot is my favorite. Try your setup at home with an unloaded gun. Push it in a ways to check bore fit then push it back out. It should work just fine. My Son took a nice deer last year with my 'youth load', 85 grns of B-209, 250 SST, worked like a champ. If it was me I'd be up to 110 grns of B-209 or so with your 300 grn bullet, no sense to split hairs though.

I practice with 250 SST with low drag red sabot and fond it very accurate at 100 yards .
Is it a good hunting bullet for deer.?
Iread that deer as tendency to run awhile before expiring.

The 250 grn SST has been very good for us, many, many deer taken with it. Of course shot placement is where it starts, they usually shoot good. For use with a Knight I found the 'low drag' type sabots to loose, O.K. for T/C usually. I like the crush rib type sabots better.
