Bighorn 209 Conversion

Hey guys I have a couple bighorns I've had for a several years. They had been sitting on the shelf at the local gun store for a while so needless to say I got a great deal on them. One has the 209 ignition and the other which has never been shot has the flat faced hammer assembly for #11's or musket caps. My question is would you convert that gun to 209 or work up a load with the current setup?

No, the #11 cap works just fine with loose Triple7, Pyrodex and real black powder. You may find the a #11 actually creates less of a crud ring with Triple7 vs the 209s. Neither one works very well with Blackhorn209 powder so IMO it would be a waste of money converting it.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I mean I already have 2 different 209 ignition muzzleloaders. I have a pound of pyrodex rs that has never been opened and will try that. I hope this gun like the hornady 240 grain xtp because thats what my other 2 have shot well with. Do any of you know where I can buy goex around northwest Alabama?

No but Grafs sells Goex by the case with i think about a $25 hazmat fee for the case. Try Olde Eynsford if you can find it. Close to Swiss performance but way way cheaper.
