LK and American Knight

Post by Papajohn501 » August 2nd, 2014, 10:41 am

I was given a 50 cal. LK and an American Knight muzzle loader , both 50cal. The LK uses a regular cap and the American knight has been converted to the 209 primer. I am new to ML hunting , but would love to try it for deer hunting. Could some one please tell me what grain bullet I should use and also how much powder to use. I don't have the manuals for either gun and I looked on Knights web site and didn't see where I could look it up. Any suggestions would be appreciated .
Thank You.

Both the American and the LK-93 are the same barrel, 22 inch. Both of those guns can be switched over to a 209 primer system. At the time those guns were produced Hornady 240 XTP was the bullet of choice. Anything in the 250 grain range will work great. Because of the 22 inch barrel anything over 100 grains is a waist of powder. You can burn more, but 110 would be max for me. By the way you can still buy the Hornady from the Knight web site.
