New shooter needs help
Ive wanted a muzzleloader for hunting Illinois whitetail but never owned until yesterday. I picked up a Knight at an estate auction for a little over two hundred. I cleaned it up and it's in good condition but I don't have an owners manual or any accessories. I don't even know what model it is but it does use the earlier disc primer. It is stainless and synthetic with a BSA scope. The rear sight is missing one fiber optic.
Anybody help me figure out this thing?
I figure I will need a bullet starter, patch jag, 50cal projectiles and some kind of powder.
Where to start?
Thanks!

Re: New shooter needs help
Dose this gun have a bolt action and tell me whats wrighting on the barrel
Re: New shooter needs help
Yes it is a bolt action disc rifle. There isn't much info on the barrel. The bolt leaves a rectangular notch when closed which I am told means it uses the older orange disc primer. The serial number is in the 0336xx range if that helps.
Thanks

when you open the bolt dose the breech plug look like this on the face. http://www.knightrifles.com/breech-plug-M900019/
if so you have the original disc model and yes it takes the orange disc.

Yes. It looks just like that. Original disc with hex head. I did get the tool to remove the breech plug and the ram rod under the barrel but no other accessories or manual.
I would be interested in the rear sight if it is the fiber optic.
Thanks a bunch!

Thanks, I'll have to get a manual. I've been a shotgun, rifle, and pistol shooter for years- sometimes competitively. I've been reloading metallic cartridges for 30 years but never fooled with black powder.
I don't have any idea what to use for powder or projectiles. Any suggestions are welcome.

Re: New shooter needs help
I use Blachhorn 209 powder no cleaning at the range love that and you have to use a hot primer like cci209m .triple 7 is a good powder but you have to clean after every shot and you use a mild primer like w209 and for bullets go can you use sabot in your state check your muzzleloading laws and see what you can use.
