thanks for info,
any ideas for bullet/sabot combos using pyrodex pellets,?
buddy wants to try 250sst w/(easy load sabots) and 130grn (2X50,1X30 pellets)-but thought easy load might not be tight , but 130 grains ok.
are barnes mz same bullet and sabot as (old) red hots ?
are sabots(black) that come with 250 and 300 mag xtp ; mmp hp12s ? and can be used or same as black sabot that comes with (non easy load )250sst?
told him that this gun w/ the right combo does not shoot under 2" groups, its broke or the shooter----any ideas?

You can use the 250gr sst and some harvester black cush rib sabots.http://www.harvestermuzzleloading.com/i ... &Itemid=18
Or you can use MMP HPH 24.http://www.mmpsabots.com/store/page6.html The thing is with pellets when you load your gun you stop seating your sabot right when it seats on the pellets or you will start to brake the pellets up from to much presser on them and your gun will not shoot good. mark your ram rod so you no when you have it seated to the right spot every time .

Any of the 'easy-glide' or 'easy-load' type sabots are to loose in my Knight guns. I'd try the regular sabots, 250 & 300 grn SST's work very good for me.

I'd branch out some & consider alternate powder choices too. I have a Knight 'Original Disc', orange discs & all. I have even shot Blackhorn 209 100% reliably with it using CCIM primers. This was with the stock breech plug. Next down the list is loose 777, then loose Pyrodex. All it takes is a simple powder measure & a few 'speedloader' vials. If you go to loose powder I'd develop a load near 110 grains for hunting. Be sure to take the bolt apart after shooting for proper cleaning.

110 grains of 777 or BH-209 and a new 250 grain Knight blood Line shoots good for me. My old Knight likes the 250 grain Barns with the MMP 24

I load 100 grains pyrodex select hodgon RS-ffg equivalent with 295 grain power belt (green hollow point) at 100 yards i shoot a very tight group and about the same up to 200 yards
