A question on cleaning.

Hey guys,

Excellent forum here. I've got a quick question that I can't seem to find details on. I've got a sidelock New Englander that wasn't shot until last week. Everytime I've shot it, it gets the bore cleaned with a solvent until the patches run clean. Sunday is the last day I shot it and it will get shot again this weekend. My question is, since I'm cleaning it with the solvent and it all appears good and clean, do I need to take the gun apart and run it down with soapy water? I've oiled around the nipple and all the metal on the outside and ran some RemOil on the inside too, to help protect the bore against rust. Is this enough?

Thanks!

yes I think you have it covered. Be sure to fire a couple of caps prior to loading your gun. This will let you know that the oil in and around your nipple is cleaned out. In the future I would swab the bore with a light oil, then leave the ram rod in your gun with the patch on the Jag, this will aid your gun from rusting.
