Re: Switching barrels
If you get in a pinch look for these http://www.nosler.com/ballistic-tip-muzzle-loader-bullet/ Use your 52x458 sabots. These bullets are .458 but come with 50cal sabots only. I just stock up on bulk 52x458 sabots and 458 bullets. The Hornady 458 325gr FTX is the same bullet Knight sells with sabots....

We got tons of Knight owners on MML and WV Hunter is very active there. http://www.modernmuzzleloader...

Re: Switching barrels
Limited? There are tons of .458 bullets 300gr+ on the market. There are a couple 250gr bullets also. Nearly any of the cheaper 300gr JHPs work really well with milder loads. There is no need to drive them fast since they are made for lower end 45/70 speeds. http://www.midwayusa.com/45-caliber-458-45...

Re: Mountaineer Grouping
I would suggest standard Win209 primers also. Avoid primers made for muzzleloaders. They are reduced power for powders liks Triple7. Fed209A primers would be my 2nd choice.

Re: Mountaineer Grouping
Lastly. I have been using bore butter. Is this good? Thanks, Ben No, Bore Butter is terrible. When using BH209, treat your bore like you would treat a centerfire. Use the same cleaning and lubrication products you would normally use with smokeless powders. Clean and lube when you are done shooting....

Re: Mountaineer Grouping
There is no need to clean between shots with Blackhorn209. When it is time to clean use a regular centerfire solvent like Hoppes. Make sure to remove the carbon from the breach plug as shown on Westerns website too. BTW don't you mean "by volume"? Those loads by weight are VERY high. 90gr by weight ...

Re: Bighorn 209 Conversion
No but Grafs sells Goex by the case with i think about a $25 hazmat fee for the case. Try Olde Eynsford if you can find it. Close to Swiss performance but way way cheaper.

Re: Bighorn 209 Conversion
No, the #11 cap works just fine with loose Triple7, Pyrodex and real black powder. You may find the a #11 actually creates less of a crud ring with Triple7 vs the 209s. Neither one works very well with Blackhorn209 powder so IMO it would be a waste of money converting it.
